This classic trekking route affords superb views without having to trek very high altitude (max 3636m), and, weather conditions allowing, we've an excellent chance of sighting four of the world's 5 highest mountains; Everest (8848m), Kanchenjunga (8586m), Lhotse (8512m) and Makalu (8462m). Villages cling to the steep hillsides, and following ancient footpaths we hope to encounter friendly mountain folk along our way. We pass through forests of chestnut, pine and silver fir, set ablaze in springtime with rhododendrons and magnolia.
This remarkable journey begins in Darjeeling, from where we move on to the dramatic landscapes of the Singalila Ridge, one of the region’s classic trekking routes, taking us high above the valleys to gaze across a panorama that boasts four of the world’s highest mountains, including the iconic profiles of Everest and Kachenjunga. We spend the next 6 days trekking through this breathtaking landscape. Next part of our journey takes us to once an independent Himalayan kingdom of Sikkim.
