

A short stopover tour that gives you and introduction to Darjeeling and Sikkim
Day 1: Arrive - Gangtok (D)
(120 km 4 ½ hours 1780m)
Upon arrival at Bagdogra airport or NJP train station or in Siliguri town either with your own arrangements or after one of our trips, you are met by Wind Horse Guide and driven to Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim (Approx. 120km/4hrs drive). Leave the sweltering plains of India and enter Sikkim at the base of the foothills in Rangpo, and then gradually climb up to the ridge town of Gangtok (1780m).
Once an independent Himalayan kingdom, Sikkim was annexed by India in 1975, but the town still retains something of its traditional cultural values, giving us a rare opportunity to discover something of the cultural heritage of this lively hilltop town. In the evening, take a short walking tour through its MG Marg Avenue and browse the colorful Lal Bazaar food/vegetable market. Overnight in hotel Norkhill or similar.
Day 2: Gangtok local visit – Darjeeling (B/D)
120 km 4 ½ hrs
After breakfast at the hotel, visit Enchey monastery, Flower Exhibition, which is found almost through-out the year near Whitehall. Other places you may wish to visit is the Directorate of Handicrafts & Handloom, where you can see traditional handicrafts in the making. Later visit Institute of Tibetology, a treasure house of rare Lepcha, Tibetan and Sanskrit manuscripts, statues and old thangkas. Nearby, also visit the the Dodrul Chorten monastery. Later continue your4 drive to Darjeeling. In the evening, stroll around Chowrastha Mall. Overnight at the hotel Mayfair Hill Resort.
Day 3: Darjeeling local visit (B/D)
Early this morning (before dawn), drive to Tiger Hill (14km/half hour drive) to see the magnificent view of sunrise over Mt. Kanchenjunga and other peaks of eastern Himalaya (Weather Permitting). On your way back to hotel, visit Yiga cheoling monastery at Ghoom, built in the year 1850- the oldest monastery in the town. Later visit Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park & Snow Leopard Breeding Centre, walk down to Tibetan Self-help center, visit a tea estate, and take a joy-ride on a toy train till Ghoom, which makes en-route stop at Batasia loop. In the evening, stroll around the Mall and visit local markets. Overnight at hotel May Fair Hill Resort.
Day 4: Darjeeling – Departure (B)
After breakfast at the hotel, drive to Bagdogra airport/ N.J.P train station or drop-off in Siliguri, for onwards destination.
Meals: Daily breakfast and dinner at the hotel
